Decent models, tricky billing

I tried out the Nous Hermes Llama 3 API for a project. The model performance was quite good for the price, definitely competitive. I liked the fine-tuning options too. However, navigating the billing section to understand token usage was a bit confusing at first. It took a little while to figure out exactly how the credits were applied and what I was being charged for. An improved usage dashboard would be helpful, but overall, a solid service.

I've always used a standard debit card and it worked fine. Their FAQ says 'What payment methods does the Nous Portal accept?', so maybe check there for a full list if your card is unusual.

Both are solid. Hermes often feels a bit more 'open' and customizable if you're into fine-tuning. Mistral is also really good, especially their larger models. It might come down to specific model versions.

I've played with both. For general text gen, Mistral is very capable. But Hermes, especially the Llama 3 based ones, has a really strong community and the open-source aspect means a lot of ongoing improvements. I'd try both developer trials if you can to see what fits your workflow better.
